The Tunisian Football Federation announced in a statement on Friday, January 26, 2024, the termination of the duties of the coaching staff for the senior national team.
This staff included the national coach Jalal Al-Qadri and assistant coaches Ali Boumnijel and Slim Ben Ashour, as well as the fitness trainers.
The federation attributed its decision to the poor performance of the team, marked by an early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations and the failure to achieve the agreed-upon contractual goals.
In response to this, the federation disclosed the appointment of coaches Anis Al-Bousaadi and Muntasir Al-Wahishi to lead the national team temporarily until the selection of a new national coach.
Simultaneously, the federation revealed the formation of a committee, the composition of which will be announced shortly.
This committee will include representatives from the Tunisian Coaches Association, as well as experts and former international players known for their competence.
Their primary task will be to propose a new national coach.
It is noteworthy that national coach Jalal Al-Qadri had declared the end of his contractual relationship with the federation following the disappointing draw against South Africa, concluding his tenure with the national team.
Tunisia’s national team exited the Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast in the group stage, securing only one goal and two points.
The team suffered a surprising defeat against Namibia in the opening match, followed by draws against Mali and South Africa, ultimately leading to their elimination from the tournament.
