Emmanuel Adebayor was noticeably absent from the list of the Togo national team players who participated in the last match of the World Cup qualifiers for Brazil 2014 against DR Congo. However, he was present in the stands during the game.
Despite not playing, the Tottenham striker showed his support by going down to the locker room to encourage his teammates. Togo’s coach, Didier Six, commented on this collaboration with Adebayor, highlighting the positive atmosphere within the team.
“It’s a whole group that lives well. It’s a foundation that we have put in place over the 21 months that I have been in Togo. I told the President of the Republic that you have a group. And I incorporate Sheyi into it. He was with us in the locker room, and I am very happy about that,” said Didier Six during a press conference.
It’s worth noting that the coach and the Togo captain had experienced verbal altercations in the past.
