Nigeria football authorities lifts Remo Stars’ stadium ban

The Nigerian Football Federation Appeals Committee has overturned the Nigerian Premier Football League’s decision that had prevented Remo Stars from hosting matches at their home ground, allowing the Sky Blue Stars to return to Ikenne stadium immediate effect.

Earlier this season, Remo Stars were forced to play home fixtures at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena following crowd disturbances during their Matchday 20 clash against Ikorodu City FC on January 14. The NPFL had imposed the sanction to ensure safety and discipline at matches.

In a ruling delivered on Friday, February 27, 2026, the NFF Appeals Committee set aside the NPFL’s banishment order, officially clearing the way for Remo Stars to resume hosting matches at Ikenne Stadium. The decision restores the club’s home advantage and allows fans to support their team on familiar turf for the remainder of the season.

The reversal marks a significant boost for Remo Stars, who can now focus on improving their league campaign with the comfort and support of their home crowd, while also reinforcing the importance of fair hearings and due process in Nigerian football governance.
