Following the 1-1 draw between the Ivory Coast national team (Elephants) and the Morocco national team (Atlas Lions) in the 6th and final day of the World Cup qualifiers, the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has imposed sanctions on Didier Zokora. These measures come in response to Zokora’s reaction to issues surrounding the captain’s armband of the Ivorian team.
Didier Zokora had initially left and then rejoined the team during the regrouping for the last day’s match. In response, the FIF announced several sanctions, including the immediate sidelining of Zokora for the match against Morocco, a fine of ten (10) million CFA francs, and the exclusion of Zokora from wearing the captain’s armband of the national team, regardless of the circumstances
