During the 2013 Francophonie Games in Nice, according to RFI (Radio France Internationale), seven basketball players, two cyclists, and a footballer from DR Congo who came to participate in the event disappeared on Sunday. The Congolese delegation reported that they have lost track of these athletes who were part of the Games scheduled until September 15.
This incident is not an isolated case of disappearance during the event. The previous Saturday, Rwanda had announced the loss of one of its football team players, leading to the country’s forfeiture in the match against Congo due to visa issues.
Notably, this occurrence follows another incident from the previous month, where Orlando Ortega, the Cuban 110m hurdles athlete, abandoned his delegation after the World Athletics Championships in Moscow.
