CAF attends launch of new COMESA regulations in Zambia

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) attended the launch of the new Regulations of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) in Zambia, reinforcing its commitment to strong governance, regulatory compliance and responsible commercial engagement across the continent.
The event marked a key milestone in advancing regulatory harmonisation and trade integration within Eastern and Southern Africa.
The updated COMESA framework is designed to enhance economic cooperation, create predictable market conditions and strengthen institutional coordination among Member States.
CAF’s attendance underscores its recognition of the importance of engaging with regional institutions that shape the regulatory and commercial landscape in which it operates.
As African football’s governing body, CAF oversees significant media rights agreements and commercial partnerships spanning several COMESA Member States, making alignment with regional regulations strategically important.
CAF Director of Legal Affairs and Compliance, Cedrick Aghey, highlighted the significance of the engagement.
“CAF is a willing and proactive participant in regional regulatory dialogue. Our presence at the launch of the new COMESA Regulations reflects our commitment to strengthening governance, enhancing our compliance culture, and building constructive economic ties across the region. We recognize the importance of engaging with institutions that shape and support the environment where we operate,” he said.
CAF continues to prioritise transparency, risk management and regulatory alignment as part of its broader governance framework.
By attending the launch, CAF signalled its readiness to support sustainable commercial growth while contributing positively to fair and predictable market environments across Africa.
