The Congolese national team, set to face Togo in the qualifiers for the 2014 Brazil World Cup, has arrived in Lomé in a fragmented manner. The initial contingent, comprising six Congolese players based abroad, landed in the Togolese capital last Wednesday. Subsequently, the remaining members of the delegation joined this initial group on Saturday at approximately 8:10 p.m.
Santos Mutubile Ndiela, the interim coach filling in for Claude Leroy, will be leading the Congolese team. Théo Binamungu, vice-president of the executive committee of the Congolese Federation of Association Football and coordinator of the national teams, is overseeing the delegation, which has found accommodation at the Palm Beach hotel in Lomé.
The Leopards will be without the services of Mputu Mabi Trésor and Kasusula Jean. Notably, Pitshou Matumona Zola, also known as Roum, is making a return after previous issues with Claude Le Roy. The upcoming match marks the 6th and final day of the qualifiers, with both countries already eliminated. The sole remaining concern is the FIFA ranking, adding a competitive edge to the encounter.
