Bryan Mbeumo hails Joshua Zirkzee as surprise gem at Manchester United

Bryan Mbeumo has revealed that Joshua Zirkzee is the teammate who has surprised him most since his big-money move to Manchester United.

The former Brentford forward, signed for £65 million in the summer, has quickly become a key attacking figure with 10 goals in 23 games across all competitions.

Zirkzee’s path has been far less straightforward. Signed from Bologna for £36.5 million the previous year, the Dutch striker has scored nine goals in 67 appearances and even faced strong transfer links to Roma during the January window. Manchester United, however, refused to entertain a sale, and Zirkzee made it clear he wanted to stay and fight for his place.

Speaking on the Inside Carrington show while sat next to his teammate, Mbeumo could not hide his admiration. “This guy on my left,” he said. “I was really impressed with Josh because he’s a lot more skilful than I would have thought, with the ball and he can just hold the ball very easy with his body and a good strike.”

Among fans, there is a growing feeling that Zirkzee is a special talent, with many hoping he can stay at Old Trafford and play an even bigger role in the coming seasons.
