Ethiopia created a sensation in Group A of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers by securing qualification ahead of South Africa. On the last day of the qualifiers, Ethiopia won 2-1 against the Central African Republic, sealing their spot in the play-offs. Despite South Africa’s 4-1 victory over Botswana, Ethiopia’s performance earned them a place in the next stage of the qualifiers.
