'A special performance from us' – Eberechi Eze leads Arsenal to statement win over Spurs

Eberechi Eze described Arsenal’s 4-1 triumph over Tottenham on Sunday as a “special performance,” underlining his central role in a dominant display at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The England international of Nigerian descent scored twice, adding to the hat-trick he notched earlier in the season, making him the first Arsenal player since Ted Drake in 1934/35 to net five league goals against Tottenham in a single season.

From the first whistle, Arsenal dictated the pace and flow of the match, moving the ball with precision and pressing effectively to disrupt Tottenham’s rhythm.

Eze thrived in the space between lines, linking play, creating chances, and finishing clinically. His influence extended beyond the scoresheet, setting the tone for a team that played with confidence and cohesion.

“We played with dominance today, with confidence and just the connection that we had on the pitch,” Eze reflected after the game.

“I think it was a special performance from us and something that we can continue to build on and something to work towards our goals. We know what these types of games are. We know the energy that the fans are bringing and how we need to be emotionally ready for the games as well. I think we’ve done so well with that and we took advantage of that for sure.”

Eze also highlighted the importance of focus and momentum in high-stakes matches. “These games are all about momentum and being in the moment. I’m just thankful to God for the opportunities that we took today. We worked so hard, we gave everything and when we perform like this it motivates us.”

Arsenal’s emphatic win not only strengthens their psychological edge over their rivals but also reinforces their title credentials.
