It is disheartening to learn that the Supersand Eagles of Nigeria, the national beach soccer team, faced a challenging situation in Dubai after participating in the Samsung Intercontinental Cup. Despite their efforts in the tournament, where they finished 4th among eight teams, the team was asked to vacate their hotel, Rayhaan Hotel & Resorts, on Sunday.
According to reports, the building managers informed Nigerian officials that the team could no longer stay in the apartments as the tournament had concluded. This unexpected turn of events left the Supersand Eagles in a difficult position, and they were asked to either leave or pay for an additional night. The team, consisting of 17 individuals, including 12 players, 2 coaches, and 3 officials, faced challenges as they were stranded in Dubai without financial support.
The Nigerian delegation had to navigate their way to Abu Dhabi and spent the night at the airport while awaiting a Monday morning flight back to Nigeria. This situation underscores the importance of providing necessary support and arrangements for national teams, even after their participation in international competitions.
