Franco-Malian star Ousmane Dembélé set for rehabilitation after fresh injury blow
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that France international of Malian descent Ousmane Dembélé will undergo internal rehabilitation training in the coming days after suffering another injury setback.
The Ballon d’Or winner picked up the injury during PSG’s UEFA Champions League playoff clash against AS Monaco. Dembélé lasted just 26 minutes before being forced off with discomfort in his left calf. Despite his early exit, PSG rallied from behind to claim a vital 3-2 away victory, securing a slender advantage ahead of next week’s return leg.
In an official statement, the French champions confirmed the extent of the issue. “After feeling pain in his left calf against Monaco, Ousmane Dembélé will undergo internal rehabilitation training in the coming days,” the club announced.
The injury means Dembélé will be unavailable as PSG prepare for their upcoming Ligue 1 fixture against FC Metz. The timing of the setback is far from ideal, with the Parisians navigating a critical stretch in both domestic and European competitions.
Currently second in the Ligue 1 standings with 51 points, PSG remain firmly in the title race, while Metz sit at the bottom of the table with 13 points. However, beyond the league campaign, attention is firmly fixed on the Champions League, where PSG were unable to secure direct qualification to the round of 16 after finishing 11th in the league phase with 14 points — forcing them into the playoff route.
Dembélé has been an influential figure for PSG this season, and his absence could pose a significant challenge as the club seeks to balance its ambitions on multiple fronts. All eyes will now be on his recovery timeline as the return leg against Monaco approaches.
