A cloud of sorrow has settled over Moroccan football following the tragic death of two young female players in a railway accident in Casablanca.

According to reports by Hesport, the incident occurred in the L’Hermitage area within the Raja neighbourhood of Casablanca.

The outlet indicated that the circumstances of the accident have left the local football community in shock.

Details carried by Morocco 24 revealed that the Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation to establish the exact cause of the tragedy.

The bodies of the two players have since been transferred to the morgue as part of the ongoing process.

Reports further noted that the young athletes were regarded as promising talents with strong ambitions in women’s football, making their sudden passing an especially painful loss for their families, teammates and the wider sporting fraternity.
