English-Nigerian Bukayo Saka fit despite Wolves scare, set for Tottenham showdown

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has been confirmed fit despite limping off during Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Wolves, offering a boost to Mikel Arteta ahead of the north London clash with Tottenham.

The England international of Nigerian descent, who appeared to have a knee issue, will reportedly be available to start at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Gunners look to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League.

Saka, 24, has been a central figure for Arsenal, making 296 appearances and scoring 77 goals in all competitions, including seven goals in 33 outings this season.

His importance to the squad was further underlined this week when he signed a new contract, reportedly making him the club’s highest-paid player. Despite the Wolves setback, the news provides reassurance that Arsenal’s attacking talisman will be fit for one of their most crucial league fixtures.

The Wolves match saw Arsenal surrender a two-goal lead, highlighting inconsistencies in their performances.

Speaking after the game, Saka acknowledged the team’s shortcomings while taking responsibility for their collective drop in standards.

“Disappointed. Not much else to say. There was a big difference in how we played in the first half and the second half. We dropped our standards and we got punished for it,” he said.

The winger emphasized the need to refocus, adding, “Time to focus on ourselves, improve our standards and improve our performances and it is in our control.”

Arteta will be hoping Saka’s return to full fitness can inspire Arsenal to reclaim momentum as Manchester City continues to chase them at the summit.
