'What just happened?' - English-Nigerian Tom Edozie savours dream debut goal against Arsenal

Tom Edozie’s Premier League introduction could hardly have gone better. The attacking midfielder came off the bench for Wolves on Wednesday night and snatched a dramatic 94th-minute equaliser to secure a 2-2 draw against table-topping Arsenal at Molineux, leaving both fans and the player in awe.

Reflecting on the moment, Edozie described the experience as the culmination of a lifelong dream.

“When you’re playing football as a kid, you dream of moments like this. I’m just thankful for even being put on the pitch for the first time, and it’s a dream come true,” he said. He emphasized the emotional weight of scoring on his debut, adding, “Getting my debut is one thing and then scoring on my debut is another. Just so thankful, just so happy.”

Edozie admitted that the emotions were overwhelming, a mixture of excitement and disbelief.

“I can’t really put it into words what’s happened. I’m just full of different emotions, but I’m just so excited to get a goal and be happy to make my Premier League debut. I have so many different emotions right now,” he said, underlining how significant the moment was in his young career.

On the strike itself, Edozie revealed his instinctive approach as the ball arrived.

“When the ball came to me, I just thought I had to keep it as low as possible, as hard as I can, and hopefully I would score. As soon as I saw it go into the back of the net, I just celebrated it regardless. It’s a goal whatever happened, so I was just happy to make it 2-2.”

The 19-year-old’s cameo was more than just a late goal—it was a statement of intent from a player eager to stake his claim in the top flight.

The roar from the Molineux crowd and the relief of salvaging a point against the Premier League leaders made the night unforgettable.

Edozie captured the moment succinctly: “Nothing was really going through my head, it was just loads of different emotions. I was so happy to be there when the fans were cheering. Something I dream of.”
