Yassine Benzia: Dijon reveals the Algerian’s period of unavailability
Just weeks after joining Dijon FCO, Algerian international Yassine Benzia has suffered his first injury setback at the club. Last Friday, the midfielder sustained a hamstring injury, forcing him to miss the match against AS Monaco on Saturday.
Following medical examinations, including MRI scans, the club has confirmed the severity of the injury. Benzia is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks, a significant blow for both player and club.
This is particularly unfortunate timing for Dijon, who recently secured Benzia as a key winter signing. The former Lille midfielder was expected to play a central role in stabilizing the team’s midfield, and his absence comes at a critical period as the club battles relegation.
Due to the injury, Benzia is likely to miss the club’s next four Ligue 1 fixtures:
-
Paris Saint-Germain – February 29
-
Toulouse – March 7
-
Strasbourg – March 14
-
Amiens – March 21
Dijon will need to adjust their midfield plans without Benzia’s creativity and experience, while the Algerian will focus on recovery to return as soon as possible. His absence highlights the thin margins for struggling teams, where losing a key player can have a major impact on results and league survival.
