Sebastien Desabre: after Wydad, towards a national team call-up?

Sébastien Desabre has finally addressed his departure from Wydad Athletic Club (WAC), confirming the end of his tenure in a statement on his official Facebook page. The French coach wrote:

“The end of our collaboration.”

Reflecting on his time with the Casablanca club, Desabre highlighted the achievements amid challenges. He noted that, during a transition period where he stepped in to support the club, Wydad managed to qualify for the CAF Champions League quarter-finals and maintain a strong position in the domestic league, despite the difficulties encountered.

Now a free agent, Desabre appears poised for a new chapter in his career, with reports linking him to a national team role. Social media speculation suggests he could become the next coach of the Ivory Coast national team, replacing Kamara Ibrahim.

While nothing has been officially confirmed, sources close to Desabre indicate that he is considering opportunities with national teams in Africa or even North America, signaling a likely step up from club management to the international stage.

This departure closes a brief but eventful chapter at Wydad, where Desabre faced pressure from both results and fan expectations, yet leaves him well-positioned for his next managerial challenge.
