Elie Baup, the coach of Marseille, is finding it hard to come to terms with his team’s first defeat against Monaco at the Vélodrome (1-2) during the closing match of the 4th day of the French League. He expressed his frustration, stating that he believes his team deserved “to take at least one point.”
“We were on it in the first period. Then, the equalization arrived very early,” explained Elie Baup. Reflecting on the match, he highlighted that facing such a formidable opponent, his team had nothing to be ashamed of in terms of performance. Baup emphasized that he opted for an offensive approach, focusing on ball possession in the opponent’s half.
“In the game, faced with such an armada, we have nothing to be ashamed of our performance. I chose the option of playing and favoring the use of the ball in the opposing camp. We saw offensive actions. But you have to find the balance because the spaces open up,” Baup added, acknowledging the need to strike a balance between offensive play and defensive solidity.
