Assistant coach of Pyramids FC, CAF Champions League: We’ll go past quarterfinals – Pyramids FC assistant coach Mohamed Gedo, is confident about his outfit surpassing the quarterfinals stage of this year’s CAF Champions League competition.
The Egyptian outfit, who are the defending champions has been paired against FAR Rabat of Morocco following the draw in Cairo on Tuesday.
The first leg of the quarterfinal has been scheduled for the weekend of March 13-15, 2026, with the reverse fixture slated for March 20-22, 2026.
Speaking to MBC, Gedo tipped fellow Egyptian club, Al Ahly as the favourites to win the title, while insisting his outfit can go past the quarterfinals of the competition this season.
“We know very well that the African groups are completely different from the knockout rounds. We trust the players and the coaching staff to get past the quarter-finals in the Champions League.” He said.
“Al-Ahly is the first candidate to win the African Champions League, Pyramids is the second candidate, and Al-Hilal of Sudan is the third candidate.” He told MBC Egypt.
“Pyramids competes in all the tournaments it participates in, and we have the strongest defense and the strongest attack in the African Champions League.”
With tight scheduling across domestic and continental calendars, managing squad rotation, travel and pressure will be crucial over these two legs.
