As previously reported by Africa Top Sports.com, Moroccan midfielder Marouane Fellaini had been in talks with Manchester United for several weeks. The Everton player sought to reunite with his former coach David Moyes at Old Trafford. Initially, Everton rejected Manchester United’s first offer of £33 million, considering it insufficient, as the club was willing to sell Fellaini and Baines but at a higher price. Eventually, the transfer was completed for €32 million. The length of Fellaini’s contract was not specified, and Nigerian Victor Anichebe left Everton for West Bromwich Albion for €7 million, including bonuses.
