Mayuka has officially announced on his Facebook account that he has signed a one-year loan contract with Sochaux in the French first division. In his statement, he expresses the desire to get more playing time and hopes to score many goals during his time with Sochaux.
Mayuka is leaving Southampton, where he has been since September 2012. Last season, he had limited playing time with only 11 matches, and this season, with the arrival of the Italian Daniel Pablo Osvaldo, his chances of making it into the first team diminished further.
Before departing from Southampton, Mayuka managed to score his first Carling Cup goal last week. Now, he will be joining Sochaux and will be alongside Togolese player Razak Boukari, who also arrived on loan last week. It appears that Mayuka is looking forward to a fresh start and more opportunities to showcase his skills in the French first division.
