Fodé Koïta, the Franco-Guinean striker, is making a move from his training club, Montpellier, to Caen. With one year remaining on his contract with Montpellier, the 22-year-old has decided to transition from Ligue 1 to the lower division. Koïta, who struggled to establish himself at MHSC, has signed a 2-year contract with Stade Malherbe de Caen.
Last season, Koïta had a loan spell in Ligue 2 with Le Havre, where he played 22 matches and scored three goals. Now, he is set to continue his career in Ligue 2 with Caen. He will wear the number 11 jersey for SMC and could potentially be included in the squad for the upcoming match against FC Metz on Monday, concluding the 5th day of Ligue 2.
This move presents a new opportunity for Koïta to showcase his talent and contribute to Caen’s campaign in Ligue 2.
