Al Ahly head coach Jess Thorup insists he has no preferences ahead of the CAF Champions League quarterfinal draw.
The Egyptian giants secured top spot in Group B, accumulating 10 points, followed by FAR Rabat (9 points), with Young Africans and JS Kabylie finishing third and fourth respectively.
With stellar clubs on the continent progressing to the knockout stage of the competition, the record Champions League holders could be handed a tough draw.
But the Danish tactician insists his outfit is ready to battle it out with any opponent in the quarterfinal of the CAF’s elite club competition.
“All the teams that qualified for the quarter-finals are strong, and if you want to be the champion, you have to defeat any opponent”
Al Ahly shared the spoils with Moroccan outfit FAR Rabat in the final round of the Champions League group stage clash, held at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.
The match was a tightly contested affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities but failing to find the back of the net in a match that showcased solid defending and cautious attacking.
With this draw, both teams have qualified to the quarterfinal of the CAF’s elite club competition.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set February 17, 2026 for the Champions League quarterfinal draw.
