Geoffrey Kondogbia, who was extensively pursued by AS Monaco, ultimately chose to join the principality club, lured by their sporting project. The French-Central African midfielder has signed a five-year deal with AS Monaco.
Despite interest from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window, Kondogbia opted not to join the Spanish giants. The 20-year-old midfielder explains in an interview with L’Equipe that the conditions for a move to Real Madrid were not met, and he received advice from knowledgeable individuals who warned him of the risks.
“There was a risk that I would play little there, that’s obvious. But it’s not just for that. I’m super happy to come back to France and make myself known to the French public. Those who watched La Liga on TV know me, not the others,” Kondogbia stated.
