Former Hazem Emam has applauded the progress Zamalek have made in recent weeks, crediting head coach Moataz Gamal for the team’s improved performances and results.

Speaking in a television interview, Emam highlighted striker Nasser Mansi, drawing parallels with club legend Abdel Halim Ali.

He noted that Gamal deserves recognition for restoring Mansi to the starting line-up and managing his situation effectively within the squad.

“The atmosphere around the team is very positive under Moataz Gamal,” Emam said.

“But football is always judged by results. If performances dip, perceptions can quickly change. From my perspective, he is not working like a temporary coach. He has a clear plan, and that is why he deserves the fans’ praise. I stay in regular contact with him, and he appears far more focused this time.”

Emam also offered a measured assessment of winger Chico Banza, suggesting the player is still searching for full rhythm.

“He is making some difficult-to-understand passes and doesn’t seem fully sharp physically yet,” he said.

He concluded by pointing out that Zamalek have benefited from the approach of their opponents.

“Many teams play openly against Zamalek, hoping to win. That gives our players space, and they are exploiting it well at the moment.”
