Angel Gomes has expressed admiration for the resilience and unity within the Wolverhampton Wanderers squad following his recent loan arrival, highlighting the collective determination he has witnessed during a challenging period for the club.
The English midfielder of Angolan descent joined Wolves last month from Olympique Marseille in search of regular minutes and a fresh competitive environment.
His early experiences suggest he has quickly settled into a dressing room defined by work ethic and togetherness as the team continues to battle for crucial results in the league campaign.
The midfielder featured in Wolves’ hard-fought goalless draw against Nottingham Forest earlier this week, a result he believes demonstrated the squad’s fighting mentality.
Gomes emphasised the positive response from players and coaching staff during training, despite the difficult league situation facing the club.
The 23-year-old also credited supporters for maintaining belief during testing moments, noting that the connection between the squad and fans has provided additional motivation.
“I’ve joined a team full of fighters. It’s been nice, it’s been refreshing.
“Although the situation is a difficult situation for the club, since coming in, the manager, the players, the way everyone’s responded to training sessions has been good.
“With the support the fans are giving us, every game we’re fighting and it’s nice to be a part of it.
“At this moment in time, a point or a win, we’ll take what we can get. The lads put in a solid shift, it’s a difficult place and we knew that. They were going to come after us, being at home, and needing points, so we knew it would be a difficult game.”
