Achraf Hakimi is set to be named in Paris Saint-Germain’s matchday squad for Friday’s Ligue 1 clash with Rennes, marking his return after a brief spell on the sidelines.
The Moroccan right-back missed PSG’s 5–0 demolition of Marseille as he served a one-game ban following his red card in the 2–1 win over Strasbourg around 10 days ago.
Despite his importance to the team, Hakimi is not guaranteed to start at the Parc des Princes. Warren Zaire-Emery’s impressive recent form gives coach Luis Enrique a positive selection dilemma on the right side, and Hakimi may have to settle for a role off the bench as he regains rhythm.
The defender has also struggled to hit top level since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, where his performances dipped compared to his usual standards.
The full-back has endured a testing run of games and commitments in recent months. An ankle injury had previously forced him out of contention, while his involvement in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations added further physical and mental demands. That tournament ended in disappointment for Hakimi, who was part of the Morocco side beaten in the final.
