Denis Bouanga is being linked with a surprise switch from Los Angeles FC to Brazilian giants Fluminense, with the Gabon-France winger reportedly under consideration for a move away from Major League Soccer.
The 31-year-old, currently valued at €8.00m on Transfermarkt, is the subject of transfer speculation as Fluminense explore attacking reinforcements from abroad. The probability of the deal is currently listed only as “?”, underlining that talks, if any, remain at an early and uncertain stage rather than an imminent agreement.
Bouanga, who wears the No 99 shirt at LAFC and operates primarily as a left winger, has been a key attacking option since arriving in California from AS Saint-Étienne in August 2022. Born in Le Mans on 11 November 1994 and standing at 1.80m, he represents Gabon internationally and also holds French nationality, giving him experience across different football cultures and styles.
Having previously featured in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 for Saint-Étienne, Nîmes Olympique, FC Lorient, Tours and Strasbourg, Bouanga has built a reputation as a direct wide forward with a strong right foot. His market value has fluctuated over the years, peaking around €12m during his Saint-Étienne spell before settling at the current €8m mark during his time with LAFC.
With no contract expiry date publicly listed in the available data, there is also scope for speculation that Bouanga’s medium-term future in MLS is not fully secured, raising the prospect that he could become available or negotiate freely at some stage if no agreement is in place.
A move to Rio de Janeiro would return Bouanga to a more traditional football hotbed after his stint in the United States and introduce him to Brazil’s Série A, adding another major league to a career that has already spanned France and MLS. Should the transfer materialise, it could offer Fluminense an experienced, versatile attacker while giving Bouanga a fresh platform to extend his peak years and enhance his reputation in South American football.
