Meknes Club coach Aziz Dhenibi expressed his delight following his team’s 1-0 victory over Raja Casablanca on Sunday evening at the Honorary Stadium in Meknes in the Moroccan Botola Pro 1.
Speaking in his post-match interview, the gaffer described the fixture as special due to the prestige of both clubs.
“For me, it was a top match, because it brought together two prestigious teams, Raja Casablanca and Meknes Club,” he said.
He praised his players for delivering an outstanding performance both tactically and mentally, adding, “Thank God, we played a strong match and were able to achieve victory thanks to the complete harmony between the players. I thank everyone who contributed to this victory.”
The coach also highlighted Meknes Club’s progress since the start of the season, noting that the team continues to operate under a clear vision to strengthen its position in the top division.
“The team is on the right track, and we have achieved several victories. We have tried to improve our performance compared to the level we were at in the second division, and today we are constantly developing and aspire to achieve more positive results,” he explained.
Dhenibi acknowledged the value of the recent international break, which allowed the team to reorganise and correct certain imbalances.
“The break helped us review many things, and although Raja is a strong and experienced team, we were able to impose our style and achieve victory,” he said.
The match’s only goal came in the 71st minute when Raja player Othman Chraibi inadvertently headed the ball into his own net, giving Meknes the lead.
Goalkeeper Reda Bounaka was also instrumental, saving a penalty from Adam Nafati in stoppage time to maintain a clean sheet and secure all three points.
With this victory, Meknes Club climbed to 19 points, temporarily tying with Raja Casablanca in third place, underscoring the team’s growing ambition and determination to compete at the top of the league this season.
