Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has warned his side to prepare for a stern challenge against Leeds United while offering a major boost by confirming the availability of Reece James and Cole Palmer ahead of the crucial Premier League clash.

The Blues head into the fixture with growing momentum under their new boss, but Rosenior has made it clear that Leeds present a dangerous obstacle as Chelsea chase a return to the top four.

Rosenior’s arrival has sparked a dramatic turnaround at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have won all four league matches since he replaced Enzo Maresca, reversing a troubling run that saw the club fail to secure victory in five consecutive top-flight outings.

That resurgence has lifted the Blues to within one point of the Champions League places, while they also hold a four-point advantage over sixth-placed Liverpool. A positive result could see Chelsea strengthen their position and potentially leapfrog Manchester United in the standings.

The Chelsea boss began his pre-match briefing by addressing team news, confirming that two of his most influential players are expected to be available for selection.

On James, he said: “Reece is fit. He is feeling unwell today. It’s no conspiracy, it’s the truth. Hopefully he’ll be well enough for tomorrow.” The England international’s fitness is a significant lift given his importance both defensively and in Chelsea’s attacking transitions from wide areas.

Rosenior also provided encouraging news regarding Palmer, who continues to be a driving force in Chelsea’s forward play.

“He is available for tomorrow. Any world-class player is important in what we want to achieve. It was great to see him bang in the goals on Saturday and hopefully that form continues.”

Despite Chelsea’s strong run of form, Rosenior remains wary of Leeds, who are aiming to complete a league double over the Blues for the first time since the 1991-92 season after their 3-1 victory in December. The Chelsea boss acknowledged the threat posed by Daniel Farke’s side and highlighted their attacking efficiency.

“You watch every game. It’s very difficult for me because when I first watched that game, it was as a neutral, I didn’t realise I’d be manager of Chelsea.

“Daniel (Farke) is an outstanding coach. Calvert-Lewin is in really good form. It’s going to be a very difficult game again.”

Rosenior also praised Leeds’ tactical style, emphasising the challenge it presents. “You saw it against Nottingham Forest, they were magnificent in that game. When I say direct, I mean it in a really positive way. We need to stand up to that and overcome that.”
