The Portuguese coach no longer doubts the departure of his star player this summer, acknowledging that it is likely that Tottenham will accept a significant transfer offer.
During a press conference, Villas-Boas stated, “It can still happen differently, but it is likely that Tottenham will accept the biggest transfer offer ever seen in the world of football.” He acknowledged Bale’s involvement in a potential move to Real Madrid and expressed that if the transfer occurs, the club wishes him the best.
However, Villas-Boas also expressed dissatisfaction with Bale’s absence from training, calling it “not correct behavior.” He mentioned that the player’s decision to stay away is a choice he made, and it is up to the club to decide whether it is financially sanctionable. In the meantime, it was noted that Bale would lose a portion of his wages at Spurs, and discussions between the involved parties are still ongoing.
