Liverpool forward Josh Sonni-Lambie has been nominated for the club’s Goal of the Month award for January 2026, highlighting the rising star’s growing reputation.
The 18-year-old tri-national talent is eligible to play for England, Nigeria, and Spain through his paternal grandfather and grandmother, adding an international dimension to his burgeoning career.
His inclusion in the shortlist underscores his impact across Liverpool’s men’s, women’s, and academy squads this season.
Sonni-Lambie’s nominated strike came in the U18 Premier League clash against Stoke City. With the scoreline settled, he rifled a clinical volley past goalkeeper Benjamin Chivers in the first minute of stoppage time, capitalising on a deflected backheel from teammate Inglethorpe to seal Liverpool’s third goal.
It was a moment that perfectly showcased his technical skill, composure, and eye for goal.
This marks the second consecutive month the forward has been recognised by Liverpool, having been double-nominated in November 2025. On that occasion, he narrowly missed out to Mohamed Salah, one of the standout performers of Egypt’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
Sonni-Lambie has been in sensational form for Liverpool U18s this season, scoring 14 goals in 15 appearances, including strikes in each of his last four matches.
His consistent finishing and attacking intelligence have made him a standout prospect in the academy setup, while also catching the attention of international scouts. At youth international level, he has already represented England U18, scoring twice in five appearances for the Young Lions.
