Al Ahly continue to cast their net wide across the African continent in search of emerging talent, as the club steps up its long-term recruitment strategy aimed at securing young, high-potential players who can serve the team in the years ahead.
This approach has become increasingly important given the intense demands of both domestic and continental competitions.
However, the Red Devils’ technical staff are currently assessing several players through trial periods, allowing the coaching team to closely evaluate their abilities before taking any final decisions based on the squad’s tactical and technical requirements.
One of the players presently under assessment is Cameroonian striker Serge Doura. The young forward has arrived in Egypt to undergo trials with Al Ahly, accompanied by an Egyptian agent and a close associate. His visit comes shortly after he parted ways with his former agent, though the reasons behind the split have not been made public.
Emmanuel Fuka, who is the spokesperson for Gazelle FC has said his outfit holds Doura’s contract and has openly welcomed the possibility of the striker joining the Egyptian giants.
“We have no objection at all to Serge Doura joining Al Ahly. On the contrary, we would be very happy,” he said. “Every player dreams of reaching the highest level and wearing the Al Ahly shirt.”
Fuka went on to praise the striker’s qualities, describing Doura as one of Cameroon’s most exciting attacking prospects. He also revealed that the player had previously undergone a trial spell with English club Fulham, underlining the level of interest he has attracted.
“Serge Doura has enormous potential and is among the best young strikers in Cameroon. A move to a big club would be very beneficial for his development and help him take the next step in his career”
He acknowledged that remaining in the local league could limit the player’s growth, stressing that the club is keen to see him test himself abroad. “Staying with Gazelle restricts his opportunities to progress, so we fully support his desire to play professionally outside Cameroon,”
As Al Ahly continue their evaluation, a decision on Doura’s future is expected once the trial period is complete.
