Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Moroccan Football Federation, has ruled out the possibility of dismissing Walid Regragui despite Morocco’s disappointment at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Regragui’s side, playing on home soil, fell short in the final, losing 1-0 to Senegal and missing out on the continental title.

According to sources, a recent meeting between Lekjaa and Regragui ended with a clear vote of confidence, confirming that the coach will remain in charge of the Atlas Lions through the end of his contract, which runs until after the 2026 World Cup.

The sources added that the federation had reviewed comprehensive reports assessing Morocco’s overall performance at AFCON 2025.

While Regragui’s position remains secure, adjustments to the technical staff are still possible, with potential additions or departures among his team.

Looking ahead, Morocco will face Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti in Group C at the 2026 World Cup.

However, the Atlas Lions will face Ecuador in a friendly game in March as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
