Senegalese forward Moussa Konaté has secured a move to Kazakhstan after months without a club, signing a one-year deal with FC Kyzyljar as he looks to relaunch his career.
The 32-year-old has joined the Kazakh Premier League side based in Petropavlovsk after being a free agent since 1 July 2025.
Konaté had been training with FC Kyzyljar for several weeks before the agreement was finalised, allowing the club to assess his condition and readiness ahead of the new season.
The move brings an end to a period of uncertainty for the striker, who last featured for Bourges Foot 18 in France.
Konaté left the National 2 club at the end of last season, with Bourges currently enduring a difficult campaign and sitting second from bottom in their group. The club is notably part-owned by Senegal international Sadio Mané.
For Konaté, the transfer represents an opportunity to start afresh after a challenging spell.
FC Kyzyljar, who compete in the top tier of Kazakh football, are expected to benefit from his experience and familiarity with different footballing environments, while the player aims to re-establish himself as a reliable attacking option.
Trained at Mbour Petite-Côte, formerly known as Touré Kounda, Konaté’s career has taken him across several leagues and countries.
He first gained prominence in Israel with Maccabi Tel Aviv before moving on to Russia with Krasnodar. Further spells followed in Italy with Genoa and in France with clubs including Amiens and Dijon.
His professional journey has also included periods in Switzerland, Turkey, Tunisia and Georgia, underlining a career shaped by adaptability and movement across Europe and beyond.
That breadth of experience is seen as a key asset by FC Kyzyljar, who are hoping Konaté can provide leadership as well as goals.
Now settled in Kazakhstan, the Senegalese striker faces the challenge of adapting once again, this time to the demands of the KPL.
For Konaté, however, the priority is clear: to make the most of this new chapter and bring consistency back to his career after months on the sidelines.
