AS Monaco’s growing injury crisis has deepened after Ansu Fati picked up a new problem in the comfortable 4–0 win over Rennes last weekend.
The 23-year-old forward, on loan from Barcelona, was forced off at half-time and has now been ruled out of a key cup fixture.
Fati will miss Thursday night’s crucial Coupe de France round-of-16 clash against Strasbourg, a game Monaco had hoped he would help decide in the final third.
There is also real concern inside the club over the severity of the issue, with fears he could be sidelined beyond this week. The Spaniard is already in a delicate stage of his career after several setbacks, making any new injury particularly worrying for both Monaco and Barcelona.
Early indications suggest he is also a major doubt for Sunday’s Ligue 1 derby against Nice in Round 21. Monaco’s medical staff will continue to assess him in the coming days, but his availability for upcoming matches remains in serious doubt.
The setback comes as another blow for a squad already missing several first-team regulars during a demanding run of fixtures.
