The Gabonese Football Federation have received several CV’s of coaches interested in taking over the reins of the Panthers coaching job.
Gabon are currently without a substantive coach following the sacking of Thierry Mouyouma after the teams’ abysmal performance at the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, held in Morocco.
The Panthers struggled to win a single game at the continental showpiece, as the team bowed out of the tournament at group stage. The team’s catastrophic performance forced Gabon government to suspend the national team.
Currently, the Gabon FA are in search of a new tactician to take charge of the team for subsequent matches, with the domestic football governing body confirming receipt of 605 applications from coaches.
According to the FA, a chuck of the application received are Europeans, as they seeks to assume the coaching role.
The preliminary stage will be followed by the examination of applications from 4 to 10 February 2026 to select a shortlist of three candidates, before the final stage leading to the selection of Gabon’s new coach.
Thierry Mouyouma hoped for a successful tournament in Morocco, but things didn’t go as planned with the team enduring one of the poorest tournament in their history.
