Arsenal midfielder Eberechi Eze expressed his delight at returning to Wembley after helping the Gunners secure a 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semifinal on Tuesday.
The win, sealed by Kai Havertz’s late strike for Chelsea, was enough for Arsenal to progress 4-2 on aggregate and book their place in the final.
“For me, this is my club and from a young age, it’s been the dream,” Eze said. “To win with Arsenal, to achieve things with Arsenal, this is everything.
“You want to work as hard as you can, put in the performance required, and I believe it will come. We have the confidence and the players to go all the way, and we’ll keep pushing for it.”
Having lifted the FA Cup with Crystal Palace at the end of last season, Eze described the feeling of returning to Wembley as “special, special, special.”
He added: “It’s a game you want to play in, a stage where you want to put in your best performances. The energy from the supporters throughout the stadium was incredible. To feel it firsthand was powerful, and it made the moment even more special for us.”
Eze praised his teammates for their commitment and effort in the hard-fought clash.
“It was a big performance from the team. Everyone worked so hard to get to the final. By the end, you could see everyone was exhausted, but that’s the type of game you want to be part of, the type you want to fight in.”
