French club Olympique Marseille have completed a late move in the winter transfer window with the signing of Algerian international Haïmad Abdelli from Angers.

The 26-year-old has penned a long-term contract with the Ligue 1 side that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2030.

According to French outlet L’Equipe, the deal is valued at around €2.5 million, with additional bonuses and performance-related clauses included in the agreement.

Abdelli is a product of the Le Havre academy, widely regarded as one of France’s leading talent factories and renowned for producing top players such as Paul Pogba. He rose through the youth and reserve teams before making his senior debut in the League Cup in 2018 against Troyes.

He joined Angers in the summer of 2022 and swiftly established himself as a key figure in midfield, playing an important role in the team’s performances.

His consistent displays also earned him regular call-ups to the Algerian national team, cementing his status as one of the standout Algerian players in French football.

The midfielder’s arrival is expected to significantly bolster Roberto De Zerbi’s options in the centre of the pitch, with Abdelli tipped to bring creativity, energy and vision to Marseille’s midfield as the club pushes forward for the remainder of the season.
