France international of Algeria descent, Karim Benzema has rejected an offer from Italian giants, Juventus, prioritizing the Saudi Pro League.
The former Real Madrid star is determined to leave Al-Ittihad after refusing to extend his contract with the club and departing the team’s base.
Despite seeking for a move away for Al Ittihad, the former Ballon d’Or winner has no intention of returning to Europe and wants to remain in Saudi Arabia.
A return to European football is not among Benzema’s top priorities, with the forward turning down a move to Juventus in the current transfer window.
According to reports, a decisive meeting is expected to be held between Al-Ittihad’s management and Benzema’s representatives to discuss the next steps. However, the PIF fund has yet to give the green light for the forward’s potential move to Al Hilal.
It should be noted that at this stage, the PIF remains the main authority responsible for making the final decision regarding the future of one of the Saudi league’s most high-profile players.
This season, the 38-year-old forward has played 21 matches for the club across all competitions, scoring 17 goals, continuing to display his trademark high level of play.
The highly-profiled attacker joined Al-Ittihad in 2023 on a free transfer after his contract with Real Madrid expired. The forward has already played 83 matches for Ittihad, scoring 54 goals and providing 17 assists.
