SAER SECK, PRESIDENT OF DIAMBARS: “THE PROBLEM OF FOOTBALL IN SENEGAL, WE WANT TO DO EVERYTHING RIGHT AWAY”

In an interview with the sports daily Stades, Saer Seck, the president and director of the Diambars Football Training Institute, emphasized that Senegalese football is affected by impatience on a sporting level and a desire to achieve immediate success. According to Seck, the issue lies in the high expectations and impatience for success, leading to a rush to achieve results without adequate means.

Discussing the ambitions of the Diambars Institute, which recently won the Senegalese championship and will represent Senegal in the African Champions League next season, Seck suggested that the only way for Diambars to be eliminated prematurely is if they choose to forfeit. He subtly indicated their intention to outperform other Senegalese clubs that have struggled in various African competitions in recent years.

However, Seck clarified that Diambars recognizes the need for a learning curve in African competitions. He stated, “Diambars will go through apprenticeship in Africa but will play their chances bravely. It’s inevitable to be learning when you approach a competition.”

Reflecting on past experiences, Seck pointed out that lessons were learned from the previous season in Ligue 1, where the championship was lost due to a draw, and those insights contributed to their strategy in the recent match that crowned them champions of Senegal.

In a broader context, Seck asserted that for Senegalese football to succeed, a focus on training is crucial. According to him, investing in training is the only guarantee of success for all football clubs in Senegal.
