The Zimbabwean national football team has been disbanded following a match-fixing scandal. The decision to dissolve the team was announced by the president of the national federation, Cuthbert Dube, during a press conference. The team had been involved in a match-fixing incident in 2009 in Thailand and Malaysia, and life sanctions had already been imposed on 15 players, the former national coach Sunday Chidzambwa, and the ex-president of the team. The recent use of hopeful players during the last match against Angola also contributed to the decision to disband the team.
