Zamalek defender Mahmoud Hamdi, widely known as “El Wensh,” has highlighted the challenge his team faces as they prepare to meet Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The two sides will meet in Round Four on Sunday at the Suez Stadium, with Zamalek aiming to secure top spot in the group.
“Winning against Al Masry is crucial for us to lead the group, and we are fully focused on achieving that in tomorrow’s match,” Hamdi told reporters.
Reflecting on their previous encounter, he added: “The last game was cautious from both sides. We hope to approach tomorrow with the right mindset and secure the victory.”
Hamdi also praised the club’s young players, noting their commitment and readiness for first-team action.
“The youngsters have shown they are up to the task. As senior players, it’s our duty to support and guide them, just as others did for us when we were starting out,” he said.
Addressing the supporters directly, El Wensh appealed for continued loyalty.
“I can’t thank you enough for standing by the team through tough times. Players, coaches, and boards may come and go, but your support for Zamalek must remain unwavering. The team is doing its best for you, and I hope tomorrow’s match marks a victorious start for our fans.”
Kick off for the game is scheduled at 19:00 GMT.
