Al Ahly defender Ahmed Eid has credited grit, discipline and collective determination for the point his side earned in a hard-fought 1–1 draw away to Young Africans in the CAF Champions League.
The Egyptian giants were guests of the Tanzanian champions on Saturday in a Round Four group-stage encounter that tested both teams physically and mentally. After 90 intense minutes, neither side could find a winning goal, settling instead for a share of the spoils.
Speaking after the match, Eid revealed that Al Ahly’s ability to follow the technical instructions of the coaching staff played a decisive role in securing the result.
He noted that the players remained tactically organized throughout the contest, despite the heavy demands of back-to-back fixtures on both the domestic and continental fronts.
The 23-year-old also highlighted the behind-the-scenes work done by the technical team, explaining that motivational meetings are held before every game to reinforce the importance of winning mentality and resilience in the face of challenges.
According to Eid, structured recovery programs have also been vital in helping the squad regain physical sharpness and perform at the expected level.
Looking ahead, Eid stressed that Al Ahly are determined to build on their positive momentum as the competition progresses, with the clear aim of satisfying the club’s passionate supporters across all tournaments.
He concluded by expressing his personal pride in wearing the famous red shirt, describing it as a great honor—especially having represented the club at youth level—and reaffirmed his ambition to win every possible title with Al Ahly in the period ahead.
