Al Ahly’s management has instructed attacker Emam Ashour to end his professional relationship with agent Adam Watani.
Club officials have refused to engage with Watani following comments he made criticising the club’s leadership.
However, Ashour is believed to have agreed to terminate his contract with Watani in line with Al Ahly’s request.
On the field, Al Ahly secured a crucial 3-1 win over Wadi Degla at Cairo International Stadium in the 16th round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The victory moves the Red Castle into third place with 26 points from 13 matches, while Wadi Degla sits fourth with 23 points from 14 games.
Al Ahly now turns its focus to the CAF Champions League, where they will host Tanzania’s Young Africans in their fourth group-stage match today, January 31, at 3 p.m.
Ashour is expected to miss the game after failing to travel with his teammates. His decision has attracted a heavy fine and two weeks suspension.
