Giovanni Solinas, former coach of CS Sfaxien, expressed deep disappointment at the exit of the Tunisian national team from the Africa Cup of Nations, considering it a significant letdown for the Tunisian sporting community.
The community had high expectations that their team, being one of the strongest on the field, would secure impressive results and accumulate numerous points during the tournament.
In a telephone interview with the “CAN 2023” program broadcasted on Cairo News channel, Solinas highlighted that the Tunisian national team failed to exhibit the expected level of play throughout the championship.
This was in contrast to some other teams that had diligently focused on improving their skillful and strategic performance in recent times, such as Mauritania and Syria.
Speaking about the Algerian national team, Solinas acknowledged the departure of their coach, Djamel Belmadi, with personal respect and admiration.
He viewed Belmadi’s departure as a natural occurrence, emphasizing that the life of coaches is marked by ups and downs.
Solinas also noted that Belmadi had contributed significantly to the Algerian national team and demonstrated immense respect for the players.
The unexpected turn of events has brought contrasting emotions to the diverse fan bases in Abidjan, turning the city into a vibrant hub of celebration and commiseration, reflecting the rollercoaster of emotions experienced during the Africa Cup of Nations.
