Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has disclosed the condition that will make Egyptian international Mohammed Salah at the club.
The former African Footballer of the Year signed a two-year contract extension with the Reds last year, with his current deal expiring in 2027.
Amid uncertainty about Salah’s future following a break in relationship with coach Arne Slot, the former Roma star has been tipped to depart Anfield.
But Murphy claims Salah might choose to stay at Liverpool if the Reds were to hire a new manager to replace the Dutchman, as the quality of the Egyptian’s relationship with Arne Slot remains unclear.
“Is this Mohamed Salah’s last season at Anfield? I think so, yes.” He told the Mirror. “I know his contract extends for a longer period, but considering what happened and how the team and he performed, I think that him staying for another year would surprise most people.”
“The only condition is that a new coach comes in and really wants to build a team around him and try to make use of him for another year, and then have this conversation. I don’t know Mohamed Salah personally, but perhaps he will be given a new push and a new opportunity to shine with a different coach.”
He concluded by saying: “I think it would be surprising to see Salah wearing a Liverpool shirt at the start of next season.
Salah was on target when Liverpool triumphed over Qarabag FK in the final round of the Champions League group phase.
