Moroccan international Youssef Belamri has been named in Al Ahly’s travelling squad for their CAF Champions League clash against Young Africans, raising the possibility of his first appearance for the Egyptian giants.
Al Ahly are set to face their Tanzanian hosts next Saturday in the fourth round of Group B, and the squad selection confirms Belamri’s availability after completing his move from Raja Casablanca during the ongoing winter transfer window.
The left back was absent from Al Ahly’s recent fixtures, including the previous group-stage meeting with Young Africans and their Egyptian Premier League encounter against Wadi Degla.
Belamri will be joined in the squad by fellow Moroccan Ashraf Bencharki as Al Ahly look to strengthen their chances of progressing in the competition.
The travelling party includes experienced goalkeepers Mohamed El Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir and Hamza Alaa, while the defensive unit features Mohamed Hany, Ahmed Eid, Ahmed Ramadan known as Beckham, Amr El Gazzar, Yasser Ibrahim, Belamri himself, Ahmed Nabil Koka and Mohamed Shokry.
In midfield, Al Ahly will rely on the presence of Marwan Attia, Aliou Dieng, Emam Ashour, Ahmed Mostafa Zizo and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, as they aim to control proceedings away from home.
The attacking options available to the coaching staff include Hussein El Shahat, Bencharki, Taher Mohamed Taher, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Mohamed Sherif and Marwan Osman.
