According to the regulations of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the yellow cards for the Egyptian national team trio, Mohamed Abdel-Moneim, Ahmed Hegazi, and Omar Marmoush, have been rescinded after qualifying for the Round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Yellow Cards for Abdel-Moneim, Hegazi, and Marmoush Cancelled
The CAF’s disciplinary regulations include the cancellation of all yellow cards for players, as per Article 17.
This article stipulates that all yellow cards must be officially cancelled following the conclusion of the group stage in the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, a player who accumulates two yellow cards will be suspended for one match.
Disciplinary Regulations in Africa Cup of Nations
The specific regulations state:
– Yellow cards received during the qualifying stage for the Africa Cup of Nations are not considered and are officially cancelled before the start of the tournament.
– At the end of the first stage of the final tournament (group stage matches), all received yellow cards will be cancelled for the remaining competition.
– Nevertheless, a player who receives two yellow cards will be subject to a one-match suspension.
Egypt’s Performance in the Group Stage
The Egyptian national team secured a place in the Round of 16 after drawing in all three matches against Mozambique, Ghana, and Cape Verde with a 2-2 scoreline.
The qualification was achieved thanks to the draws between Ghana and Mozambique.
