Meknes Athletic Club claimed a dramatic 2–1 away victory over Renaissance Zemamra on Sunday at the Martyr Ahmed Choukri Stadium, as the two sides clashed in the ninth round of the Botola Pro 1.
The opening half was fiercely contested, with both teams showing attacking intent and creating promising chances. Despite the intensity and end-to-end action, neither side managed to find the breakthrough, as a lack of composure in the final third ensured the score remained level at the interval.
Renaissance Zemamra came out with renewed energy after the break and were rewarded almost immediately. Just two minutes into the second half, Yazid Fafa broke the deadlock in the 47th minute, calmly finishing off a well-timed assist from Montasser Lahtimi to give the hosts the lead.
Meknes Athletic Club, however, responded positively and gradually grew into the game. Their persistence paid off in the 62nd minute when Mustapha Sahd restored parity, capitalizing on a decisive delivery from Mouad Ounzo to make it 1–1.
As the match appeared to be heading for a draw, late drama unfolded. In the second minute of stoppage time, Meknes were awarded a penalty, and Mouad Ounzo stepped up to convert confidently in the 90+2 minute, completing a remarkable comeback and securing all three points for the visitors.
The win lifts Club Sportif Meknès to 15 points, placing them fifth on the league table, while Renaissance Zemamra remain in tenth position with 8 points after nine rounds.
